Happy December! As I write this, a little snow is falling outside my window. The world feels quieter like it’s taking a long, deep breath. There’s something peaceful about this time of year. It’s a chance to pause, reflect, and settle into the stillness of winter.
It feels like an invitation to slow down. And yoga is such a beautiful way to honor that rhythm. A calming Child’s Pose, a gentle forward fold, or simply sitting quietly with your breath – these practices encourage us to turn inward. To find warmth and equanimity within.
If you’re looking for a way to stay grounded and connected this season, the two-week yoga challenge is the perfect opportunity. We’re starting today, and it’s all about finding ease and consistency in your practice—no matter where you’re at. It’s not too late to join!
A Seasonal Focus
In honour of this winter season, this week I invite you to embrace the stillness in between movements. Feel for the calm in the spaces between your poses, your breaths, and your thoughts. These moments of stillness can be just as powerful as movement.
On your yoga mat: Instead of rushing from one pose to the next, pause for a few breaths in between. Soak in the stillness and simply be for a moment.
Off the mat: Practice finding moments of stillness in your day. Between errands or conversations, can you pause and breathe before moving on to the next thing?
“There is a voice that doesn’t use words. Listen.”
– Rumi
Whether you’re joining the challenge or doing your own thing, I hope you find ways to nourish yourself as we move into this winter season.
Stay cozy, stay curious, and enjoy the magic of December!
How are you welcoming the start of December? Whether it’s snowy, sunny, or somewhere in between, I’d love to hear how you’re embracing (or tolerating…) this new season!
